People tend to ask me, “What do you do?”, “What pays you?” etc. It’s always a funny question to me, because most times the intention behind it is trying to replicate the small “success.”

Well, the thing is, I am an anomaly. Right from time I decided I was going to forge a career/future by myself and do things as me. This doesn’t mean people haven’t been part of my small success story.

It comes with its perks and cons. A lot of people don’t know exactly what I do, so a good number of opportunities don’t get across to me. The few that get to me, get to see me in action and they become believers.

I also think because someone is doing a particular thing, you should do it just like that. Self awareness is important and you should know how to leverage your strength and cover your weakness.

I’ve seen rich mechanics, carpenters, tailors, welders, etc while growing up. I usually tell people that, so far you’re great at what you do, and people know that you’re great at it, you have the potential to be in the top percentile of your occupation.

I do not know a lot of things about life, but I strongly believe in myself. I ALWAYS bet on myself, no matter the odds. Also, I think how my brain is wired towards money is different. When I see money, I see it as a means to an end. That is why I am not afraid of spending on things I need and want. I’m never moved to say, “Oh xyz is doing this and has money oh, let me try it”

I follow a very non traditional job field in a very non traditional sector globally. So sometimes I end up doing 2 steps forward and 3 steps backwards. However, progress at times is not linear and we don’t tend to see the result until a while ago. The perfect word that describes me is an “Ambitious Generalist”. However, such roles don’t exist, so I am forced to answer job titles according to the skill I am to use to deliver the work.

I had a call with a good guy writing his Masters’ thesis, and after the interview, he was really happy to speak with me and mentioned I gave him a lot of helpful answers. It then occurred to me that this was me speaking from over 3 years of DAOs and Governance navigation.

I might have been in a better place if I chose a different path, I might be worse who knows? Luck does exist and I agree to say that I have been lucky at times with life. I have also had my fair share of Ls. I have been in places mentally that I don’t want to experience again.

Just believe in yourself.
